Hot, Hot, Hot

It has been extremely hot the past few days -- 116 degrees yesterday afternoon.  Of course, the electrical powers that be shut off all air conditioners from 3:15 - 6:15 at the hottest time of day.  So looking forward to fall weather, homemade chili and soups, gingerbread, and all that comes along with cooler temperatures.

Yea

Finally -- I started putting together my GFG with the white background.  It seems to be going much faster than making the individual flowers but I may not think that in a couple of weeks.  I already found my "Amish" piece -- one wrong white piece, but I figure after a couple of washings it might not show.  I've really enjoyed making this but need to get back to machine piecing and finish some bindings now that the weather is cool enough in the evenings to have the quilt on your lap.

Dog Days of August

It's been so hot here recently not much has been going on.  I've just been working on my GFG blocks (after a brief panic attack over not being able to find my stash of plastic templates).  I'm building the stash of "white" so I can start putting the flowers together.  Fabric purchases and embroidery purchases, but no work on anything else.  Can't wait for cooler weather (and more ambition).

Out of Season???

Sunday night my daughter and I went to one of those home supply centers to get some patio furniture and a new BBQ.  I found a table and chair set I really liked the style of, athough it was just seating for four.  No problem, I'll get two sets and they can sit on either side of the patio door and look cute.  Had a real nice, young sales guy who went to check stock.  The only one left nationwide was their display model according to their computer system.  The reason?  They "opened" their summer season way early this year and it is now on to fall items!  I glanced around and, sure enough, there were actually a few Halloween items out!  So I ended up with display models (half-price, can't complain there) of that set and another set with a low table with a firepit and four chairs.  The only problem is -- they don't match!  Guess I'll check the fabric stores soon and try to find matching or at least coordinating fabric. They are going to sit on opposite ends of the yard so hopefully they won't look too bad out there in the meantime.  Delivery is this morning -- maybe my daughter will BBQ dinner tonight!  Remind me next month to pick up my Christmas cards and decorations!

My New Ride

My daughter and grandson got new bicycles -- so I had to have one, too!   Me on a bike -- not a pretty picture -- but it will be fun riding the bike trails behind with them.  My longest ride ever was 16 miles but that was 40 years ago!  If my first ride at this age is .16 miles, I'll be happy.  Get a good look at the nice paint on it now -- who knows what it will look like after my first adventure.

Off to work on another Grandmother's Flower Garden piece.

My grandson, Bradley (age 12) and one of his new twin sisters born 06/01/10 to his Dad and Step-Mother.  Ivy is 5 days old here.  Picture of Miranda coming soon.

More Flowers

3 more flowers for the Grandmother's Flower Garden made and one in process.  I finally found some binding fabric for a quilt ready to be bound -- just in time to have it on my lap in the summer weather!
